Discipleship in the RSM

There are lots of different ways that we engage students each week with the Gospel. Take a look at our rhythms of discipleship!

  • Sunday Mornings: 9:15-10:15am

Studying God’s Word and Learning Spiritual Disciplines

Sunday mornings are intentional discipleship times with our students. We study God’s Word with the goal of understanding Scripture and obediently applying the Word to our lives.

In addition, we aim to help students build confidence in how to pray and spend time with their Creator in His Word. We periodically practice this important discipline together on Sunday mornings (see One A Day & Pray).

We typically study a book of the Bible verse by verse with teachers who seek active engagement from our students. However, we occasionally teach topically to address relevant issues that affect teenagers. Currently, our students are studying the book of Ephesians for the school year.

  • Wednesday Evenings: 6:30-8pm

Christian Fellowship & Proclaiming the Gospel

Wednesday nights are the heart of RSM. The goal is soul transformation, where the truth of the gospel is taught and lived out in our students' lives. We hang out, catch up with our friends, and play a fun large group game before listening to a message from the Word of God. We then break into adult-led small groups to encourage students to walk in the Light!

  • One A Day & Pray

We seek to help all our students learn how to pray and study God’s Word on their own so that they can begin to grow spiritually. We use a simple daily devotional tool called One a Day & Pray. The plan calls for students to read an assigned chapter of the Bible every day and use the SOAP (Scripture, Observation, Application, Prayer) method for study.

This Bible reading plan takes the students through almost the entire New Testament and several books of the Old Testament (Genesis, 1 Samuel, Proverbs, Song of Solomon, Ruth, Jonah, select Psalms, and other select passages)

  • Discipleship Training

Our goal is for all our upper classmen to participate in and complete a challenging, but extremely rewarding, discipleship program that will help prepare them for the next phase of their Christian life. In addition, the goal is to equip them to be disciple-making disciples themselves.

RSM Serving Opportunities

“For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.” - Mark 10:45

We encourage our students to live on mission for Jesus every day, but every year, the RSM sets out together to serve our community and on mission!
